Gratitude. Exhibiting gratitude is my 2023 goal and I’m extremely grateful for this wonderful day in Melbourne to close out the first month of the New Year. 70 6

Had a super fun night at the Australian Open and met up with Wheelchair Travel reader David at the ladies’ final! Great 3-set match that saw 4 match points before Aryna Sabalenka claimed the title. Loved everything about my night at Rod Laver Arena and the Happy Slam! 86 3
A beautiful addition to Boston Common — “The Embrace” sculpture was inspired by a hug shared by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King, after the civil rights leader was awarded the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize. 62 6
In November, I traveled to Rome for the first time in a decade — and the first time as a wheelchair user. During my trip, I was grateful to meet (extremely briefly) the Holy Father, Pope Francis. He has spoken profoundly on the value of every human life, to include those of us with disabilities. And, due to his advancing age, he now uses a wheelchair some of the time. His continued engagement with all of us, from the seat of a wheelchair, is an important witness — a statement to the world that wheelchairs do not confine, they liberate! 346 18
The Christmas season is one of love and gratitude and although there were quite a few shocks and disappointments over the last year, I’m supremely grateful to have spent my time on this planet with all of you. Here’s to a happy, healthy holiday season, full of good tidings and a hope that the best is yet to come. Thanks for being a part of my life and journey. 63 1
College football’s regular season ended on Saturday and it was a great one! While I didn’t make any trips to Tallahassee this year, I did watch my Florida State Seminoles compete on the road — as they defeated LSU in New Orleans and Miami in the Hard Rock Stadium. 64 5
I had a lovely evening at Castel Sant’Angelo (123-129 AD) in Rome, where I enjoyed a drink and excellent views of St. Peter’s Basilica at sunset. 54 1
My mom visited me in Boston this week! Given that it’s cold, dark and spooky outside at this time of year, I thought it appropriate to visit Salem, Massachusetts! 🧙‍♀️ 🧹🌙 🪄 🔮 146 7

Last night, I had to overnight in London due to some operational issues on the part of British Airways. The delay was a massive inconvenience, but I always try to find a positive outlook — and hey, what’s wrong with a night in London? 113 6
Belgian waffles are NOT overrated. Not pictured here is me dropping this beautiful and delicious creation on the ground after a few bites. Food for the local critters! 🤣 55 4
