On this tour, you’ll visit Barcelona, Spain and the surrounding areas to experience a program that is diversified in content and rich in cultural activities — together, we’ll explore Spanish traditions, art, architecture, history and gastronomic experiences. Presented in a format that is accessible and designed to be barrier-free, this tour provides the perfect opportunity to experience authentic Spain!

Trip Itinerary

I have crafted this engaging accessible trip itinerary while bringing together a variety of local and regional partners, experts in accessible tourism who have the knowledge, equipment and staff to ensure that our needs are met.

The benefit of this accessible group tour to Spain is that it opens the country up in a way that would be very difficult or cost-prohibitive to accomplish on a solo trip — through this group tour, we are able to account for everyone’s needs by preparing the way for wheelchair users and travelers with disabilities. There is truly no better way to explore Spain with a wheelchair!

Day 1 (October 13, 2026): Arrival in Barcelona

I will be waiting for you in the Arrivals Hall at the Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), and you will be transported by our driver in a wheelchair accessible vehicle to the modern 4-star Hotel SB Glow for check-in.

Take the afternoon to rest or explore the local area on your own, before meeting the group for a welcome drink at the hotel. Following our welcome, we will walk three minutes to visit the Torre Glòries Observation Deck, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city. It’s a great way to get a first impression of Barcelona’s layout and energy, while also familiarizing yourself with the area around our hotel.

We will return to the hotel for a group tapas dinner (included).

Included meals: Dinner

Day 2 (October 14, 2026): Gothic Quarter, Picasso and Flamenco Show

Our action-packed day will begin with a walking tour of Barcelona's historic Gothic Quarter. Our guide will describe the area's rich medieval history, vibrant streets and unique architecture — as we pass by the Barcelona Cathedral, Plaça del Rei, Carrer del Bisbe (Bishop’s Bridge) and more.

Barcelona Cathedral in old town.

We will also visit the renowned Picasso Museum, home to one of the most extensive collections of Pablo Picasso’s early work. Housed in beautifully restored medieval buildings, the museum is wheelchair accessible with elevators, ramps, and adapted restrooms.

In the evening, we will travel a short distance from the hotel to experience a Flamenco Dinner & Show. The experience includes a tapas dinner (included) with the flavors of Southern Spain, the light from white lanterns and the simplicity of a venue that highlights the purity and originality of the Flamenco art form. This how is a true highlight of the tour.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3 (October 15, 2026): Montserrat

We will travel up the mountain of Montserrat by bus, reaching a height of 4,051 feet (1,236 meters) above sea level. The rocks of Montserrat were formed over centuries, carved by the wind and rain that shaped the mountain with strange and varied forms.

Visit the Benedict Sanctuary of Montserrat which was founded in 1025 and provides a mystical backdrop for the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia who is enshrined in the monastery’s Royal Basilica. We will enjoy a performance of the Escalonia Boys' Choir, which was formed in the 14th century and is one of the oldest such choirs in Europe.

We will have an opportunity to ascend higher on the Sant Joan Funicular, which offers spectacular panoramic views of the Montserrat massif through its large windows and steep incline.

Before returning to Barcelona, we will enjoy lunch at the highly rated Abad Cisneros restaurant, one of my favorite dining experiences on the tour.

Included meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 4 (October 16, 2026): Barcelona of Gaudi

We submerge ourselves in the universe of Antoni Gaudí, the acclaimed architect whose inexhaustible imagination was able to turn dreams into stones. Barcelona is the only city with examples from all phases of Gaudí's career, and our first introduction to his works will be on a morning tour of the whimsical Parc Güell.

We will enjoy lunch (included) before a guided tour of the Sagrada Familia, the unfinished cathedral that is Gaudi's most famous work.

Included meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 5 (October 17, 2026): Penedès Gastronomic Experience

We’ll start the day with an early visit to one of the most sustainable “Cava” brands (a sparkling kind of wine, made of various wine bases) at the Sumarroca Winery. Through an accessible guided tour, you will taste exceptional wines and become part of a story rooted in sustainability, tradition, and passion.

Next, we will travel to the stunning coastal town of Sitges, which is famous for its cultural heritage, picturesque beaches, and lively atmosphere. The group will enjoy lunch (included) at the local beachfront restaurant, PICNIC, followed by a tour of the town's historic quarter and promenade, then return to Barcelona in time for dinner.

Included meals: Breakfast and Lunch + Wine Tasting

Day 6 (October 18, 2026): Travel to Santa Susanna in the Costa Brava

In the morning, we will check out of our hotel in Barcelona and journey to Spain's iconic Costa Brava ("wild coast") region. After a ride of approximately two hours, we will check-in to the beautiful Atzavara Hotel & Spa, a peaceful retreat in the picturesque coastal town of Santa Susanna.

Exterior view of hotel and swimming pools with a town settled on rolling hillsides in the background.

Enjoy lunch (included) at one of the hotel's four restaurants, before exploring the charming beachfront boulevard and promenade on your own. The town is a great place to take in the sea breeze, enjoy local gastronomy and shop for souvenirs. You might also enjoy a relaxing experience in the hotel's celebrated spa.

Included meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 7 (October 19, 2026): L'Escala, Ruins d'Empuries & Sant Martí d'Empúries

This day will take us on a picturesque journey along the Paseo de los Enamorados, a beautiful, accessible seafront promenade that stretches from L’Escala to Sant Martí d’Empúries. With stunning views of the Mediterranean and a peaceful atmosphere, the route is ideal for a leisurely walk or roll, offering a seamless connection between these two historic locations.

A highlight of the day is a visit to the Ruins of Empúries, an archaeological site that reveals the remains of ancient Greek and Roman settlements. We'll traverse the paths to admire temples, mosaics, and ancient streets, while learning about the site's rich history and its significance in the region.

Finally, in Sant Martí d’Empúries, a charming medieval village, we’ll enjoy a local lunch (included) at the highly rated L'Esculapi Restaurant, followed by a tour of the town's historic center and landmarks like the Church of Sant Martí.

Included meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 8 (October 20, 2026): Girona and Dalí Museum

In the morning, we will head to Girona, a city steeped in history and cultural heritage. Girona's Old Town (Barri Vell) is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture and its significant connection to Jewish history. Known as one of the most important Jewish communities in medieval Spain, the Jewish Quarter (El Call) offers an insightful glimpse into the city's past, with narrow streets and picturesque courtyards that are accessible for wheelchair users.

After exploring the historic charm of Girona, we will travel to Figueres for lunch (included), the birthplace of artist Salvador Dalí. We will tour the Dalí Theatre and Museum, which was designed by the artist himself and offers an immersive exploration into his mind and career. Architectural barriers limit accessibility at the museum, but we will see the central courtyard with the installation of the Rainy Cadillac; a selection of Salvador Dalí’s iconic works in the Treasure Room; the ground floor and the painter’s crypt; and a representative collection of paintings, drawings and engravings from various periods in the Fishmongers’ Hall.

Included meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 9 (October 21, 2026): Return to Barcelona and Free Time

After breakfast, we will check-out of the Atzavara Hotel and return to Barcelona and the wonderful Hotel SB Glow by bus.

You can take the afternoon to explore Barcelona on your own, or join me and our tour guide on a final walking tour. We will start at Plaça de Catalunya and continue along Passeig de Gràcia, one of the city’s most exclusive avenues with its high-end shops, charming cafés and architectural masterpieces such as Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. Our route concludes on Rambla de Catalunya and Avinguda Diagonal.

We will conclude the day and our journey through Spain with a farewell dinner at Mirabé Tibidabo (included), enjoying sunset views of Barcelona from the restaurant's hillside dining room and terrace.

Included meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Day 10 (October 22, 2026): Departure

After checking out of the Hotel SB Glow in Barcelona, our driver will transport you to the Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) for your departing flight.
