Trip Itinerary
I have crafted this engaging accessible trip itinerary while bringing together a variety of local and regional partners, experts in accessible tourism who have the knowledge, equipment and staff to ensure that our needs are met.
In speaking about the accessibility solutions we’ve embedded in Wheelchair Travel Group Trips, one traveler shared this about a previous tour:
I really enjoyed the tour and would definitely do it again! It was all designed around wheelchair accessibility and the bus had a lift which made my life very simple, the destinations we saw were specifically designed for wheelchairs and made this trip easy and fantastic!

The benefit of this accessible group tour to Greece is that it opens the country up in a way that would be very difficult or cost-prohibitive to accomplish on a solo trip — through this group tour, we are able to account for everyone’s needs by preparing the way for wheelchair users and travelers with disabilities. There is truly no better way to explore Greece with a wheelchair!
Day 1 (September 26, 2025): Arrival in Athens
Our driver will be waiting for you at the Athens International Airport (ATH), and you will be transported in a wheelchair accessible vehicle to the hotel for check-in.

I will be available at the hotel in the evening to meet and answer any questions you may have (or to enjoy a drink in the lobby bar!). Our full group will meet over breakfast the following morning to begin our tour of Athens, Greece.
Day 2 (September 27, 2025): Everything Athens
Enjoy a 4-hour guided group tour of the Athens city center, with visits to iconic attractions including the Acropolis, the Olympic Stadium, Syntagma Square, and the National Library. Our guide will provide details about the city’s history, from ancient times to the present day.

Lunch (included).
After lunch, we will explore The Plaka neighborhood, with its many tiny shops selling jewelry, clothes and local ceramics. We will then return to the hotel and enjoy a group dinner (included) at the hotel.
Day 3 (September 28, 2025): Athens, Island of Evia and Katerini
We will start the day with a lovely trip from Athens to the island of Evia for a relaxing lunch, enjoying the island’s charm and local food.

In the city of Chalkida, we will wheel along the seafront lined with tavernas (small, traditional Greek restaurants) with fresh fish and seafood, visit Kokkino Spiti (the Red House, built in 1884), the Statue House, the Archaeological Museum, and the Mayor’s Hall (noted for its beautiful Baroque architecture).
After lunch, we will travel to Katerini, where we will arrive at a beautiful wheelchair accessible resort. The peaceful atmosphere and easy access to amenities will ensure you have a wonderful stay, blending relaxation with beautiful surroundings. Enjoy dinner at the hotel (included).
Day 4 (September 29, 2025): Visit Katerini Village
In the morning, we will travel to Katerini Village, where we will explore the wheelchair accessible local market, wander through the charming streets, soak in the village’s warm atmosphere, and experience the variety of fresh, local products available from vendors. The village’s friendly residents are welcoming, and we will have opportunities to connect with Greek culture.
Dinner at the hotel (included).
Day 5 (September 30, 2025): Archaeology in Macedonia, Thessaloniki
We will start the day with a one-hour drive to the City of Pella, where we will visit the Pella Archaeological Museum. The museum presents the rich history of ancient Macedonia. After taking in the museum’s exhibits, we will continue to Thessaloniki, the port city on the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean Sea.

In Thessaloniki, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the local culinary scene, tasting traditional Greek dishes and fresh flavors. Alongside the food, discover Thessaloniki’s historical landmarks and experience the lively atmosphere of the city. Our full-day trip offers a perfect mix of history and gastronomy, ensuring a memorable day filled with culture and delicious food.
Return to the resort in Katerini for dinner (included).
Day 6 (October 1, 2025): Mount Olympus and the Throne of Zeus
We will travel to experience the traditional villages near Mount Olympus, where time seems to slow down, and the charm of local life surrounds you. Explore the narrow streets, admire the old stone houses, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of these picturesque villages.

We will venture to Mount Olympus, where you can experience the stunning natural beauty of Greece’s most iconic mountain. In Ancient Greek mythology, Mount Olympus was regarded as the home of the Greek gods, and as the “throne of Zeus.” Today, it is national park and a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
We will have the opportunity to experience the diverse flora and fauna that call the mountain home, and adventurous travelers may choose to add a specialized hiking experience that includes use of a wheelchair designed for outdoor terrain (limited spaces, additional cost). Whether you prefer to take in the breathtaking views or explore the hiking paths, this day offers a beautiful blend of nature and culture, making it a rewarding experience for everyone.
We will return to the hotel for dinner (included).
Day 7 (October 2, 2025): Free/Beach Day in Katerini
A free day for rest, relaxation or adventure is an important part of any group trip, and there is no better place to relax than in the beautifully warm weather of Greece.
You can choose to enjoy a day of rest at our wheelchair accessible resort, visit an accessible beach outfitted with the award-winning SEATRAC system (which makes independent access to the ocean possible for people with mobility challenges), or travel into the town of Katerini for exploration, shopping and more.
Whatever option you choose, you are sure to have an enjoyable day in Greece. At the end of the free day, dinner will be provided at the hotel (included).
Day 8 (October 3, 2025): The Royal Tombs in Vergina
From our resort in Katerini, we will travel to the small town of Vergina, an ancient site famous for the royal tomb of Philip II, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will learn about the fascinating archaeological discoveries at the wheelchair accessible Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai. Our expert guide will help us discover the ancient treasures and learn about Macedonia’s past.

In the afternoon, we will have a chance to taste the best wine of the region and learn about its production before returning back to the hotel for dinner (included).
Day 9 (October 4, 2025): Volos and Return to Athens
In the morning, we will depart our Katerini resort bound for Athens. We will enjoy a pleasant lunch stop in the charming city of Volos, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal in a restaurant of your choosing. After lunch, we continue our drive to Athens.

Upon our return to Athens, we will check-in to a 4-star hotel, conveniently located at the seaside or nearby the Athens International Airport.
We will enjoy a final group dinner in a tavern by the water (included).
Day 10 (October 5, 2025): Departure from Athens Airport
Transfer from the hotel to the Athens International Airport (ATH) in a wheelchair accessible vehicle to meet your departing flight.

We will be staying in four-star hotels in Greece, all of which offer a high level of in-room wheelchair accessibility. Should you require additional equipment to make your stay comfortable and accessible, please let me know and I will do everything possible to meet your individual needs. We will spend the most time in a four-star resort that has been thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind, and it is a popular holiday destination for disabled travelers.
