You’ll join the tour group in Athens, Greece, then travel as far north as Thessaloniki, experiencing a program that is diversified in content and rich in group activities — together, we’ll explore Greek history, art, architecture, culture, landscapes and gastronomic experiences. Presented in a format that is accessible and designed to be barrier-free, this tour provides the perfect opportunity to experience authentic Greece with a group of Wheelchair Travel readers!
Trip Itinerary
Like all Wheelchair Travel Tours, I have crafted this accessible tour itinerary with the support of our trusted local partners who have the knowledge, equipment and staff to ensure that our needs are met. Through this group tour, we are able to account for everyone’s needs while offering a truly exceptional experience at an affordable price. There is no better way to explore Greece with a wheelchair or disability!
Day 1 (April 30, 2027): Arrival in Athens
Myself and our driver will be waiting for you at the Athens International Airport (ATH), and you will be transported in a wheelchair accessible vehicle to The Stanley Hotel for check-in.
Take the afternoon to rest or explore the local area on your own, before meeting the group for a tour orientation and a welcome dinner in the hotel restaurant. I will be available to answer any questions you have.

Day 2 (May 1, 2027): Everything Athens
Enjoy a guided group tour of the Athens city center, with visits to iconic attractions including the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum. We'll also pass by the Olympic Stadium, Syntagma Square and the National Library. Our guide will provide details about the city’s history, from ancient times to the present day.
Enjoy some free time for lunch in The Plaka neighborhood, with its many tiny shops selling jewelry, clothes and local ceramics. We will then return to the hotel and enjoy a group dinner (included) at the hotel.

Day 3 (May 2, 2027): Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon
Following a late breakfast at the hotel, we will enjoy a panoramic drive to Cape Sounion (approximately 1 hour each way) and visit to the archeological site of the Temple of Poseidon, which dates to 700 B.C.
Our tour guide will explain the history and significance of the monument, and we will get our first introduction to Greek history and mythology. Dinner will follow at a traditional tavern (included) and we will return to the hotel.

Day 4 (May 3, 2027): Free Day in Athens
Embark on a self-guided adventure through the timeless city of Athens, where history and modernity seamlessly blend. Discover the city’s diverse neighborhoods, each offering a unique glimpse into Athens' rich cultural heritage. From ancient ruins to vibrant markets, Athens is a city that invites you to uncover its many layers at your own pace.

Day 5 (May 4, 2027): Athens to Volos and Katerini
We will start the day by checking-out of our hotel, then embarking on the long journey from Athens to Katerini, with a stop in the charming city of Volos. There, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal in a restaurant of your choosing.
After lunch, we will travel to Katerini, where we will arrive at a beautiful wheelchair accessible villa and resort. The peaceful atmosphere and easy access to amenities will ensure you have a wonderful stay, blending relaxation with beautiful surroundings. Enjoy dinner at the resort (included).

Day 6 (May 5, 2027): The Royal Tombs in Vergina
From our resort in Katerini, we will travel to the small town of Vergina, an ancient site famous for the royal tomb of Philip II, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will learn about the fascinating archaeological discoveries at the wheelchair accessible Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai. Our expert guide will help us discover the ancient treasures and learn about Macedonia’s past.
Following our visit to the Royal Tombs, we will travel to the hotel's private beach (located approximately 15 minutes from the hotel) to enjoy an afternoon of relaxation, a cooking class with the hotel's chef and a lovely dinner (included).

Day 7 (May 6, 2027): Thessaloniki and Alexander the Great
After breakfast, we will depart for the port city of Thessaloniki, enjoying a panoramic tour led by our travel guides that will lead you to discover Thessaloniki’s historical landmarks and its lively atmosphere.
We will visit the iconic White Tower. Travelers will enjoy free time in the afternoon, an opportunity to explore the city center with its shops and restaurants, or venture to one of the city's fantastic museums.
Our full-day trip offers a perfect mix of history and gastronomy, ensuring a memorable experience filled with culture and delicious food.
Return to the resort in Katerini for dinner (included).

Day 8 (May 7, 2027): Archaeology in Macedonia
We will start the day with a one-hour drive to the City of Pella, where we will visit the Pella Archaeological Museum. The museum presents the rich history of ancient Macedonia.
After our guided tour of the museum, we will venture out to the Pella Archaeological Site, where you'll be able to see and touch the ruins of a once vibrant city that existed more than 2,000 years ago.
After our tour of the archaeological site, we will travel to Edessa to enjoy free time and an opportunity to see the city's famous waterfall.
Return to the resort in Katerini for dinner (included).

Day 9 (May 8, 2027): Mount Olympus and the Throne of Zeus
We will travel to experience the traditional villages near Mount Olympus, where time seems to slow down, and the charm of local life surrounds you. Explore the narrow streets, admire the old stone houses, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of these picturesque villages.
We will venture to the foot of Mount Olympus, with a stop at an archaeological site in Dion, where you can experience the stunning natural beauty of Greece’s most iconic mountain. In Ancient Greek mythology, Mount Olympus was regarded as the home of the Greek gods, and as the “throne of Zeus.” Today, it is national park and a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
In the afternoon, we will travel to a Greek winery in the countryside, where we will have a chance to taste authentic wine of the region and learn about its production. There we will enjoy a light charcuterie lunch (included), with views of Mount Olympus.
We will return to the resort for dinner (included).

Day 10 (May 9, 2027): Return to Athens
In the morning, we will depart our Katerini resort bound for Athens, enjoying a picturesque journey along the coastline and stopping at wheelchair accessible rest areas along the way.
We will stop to enjoy a final wine tasting and farewell dinner at the Tzivani Bio Wines Estate in the City of Chalkida.
Upon our return to Athens, we will check-in to a hotel, conveniently located near the Athens International Airport.

Day 11 (May 10, 2027): Departure from Athens Airport
Transfer from the hotel to the Athens International Airport (ATH) in a wheelchair accessible vehicle to meet your departing flight.

We will be staying in four-star hotels in Greece, all of which offer a high level of in-room wheelchair accessibility. Should you require additional equipment to make your stay comfortable and accessible, please let me know and I will do everything possible to meet your individual needs.
We will spend the most time in a four-star resort that has been thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind, and it is a popular holiday destination for disabled travelers.
Trip Costs and Inclusions
The costs of the 2027 Wheelchair Travel Group Tour to Greece are as follows:
- $6,450 USD per person based on double occupancy
- $8,450 USD per person based on single occupancy
The preferred method of payment is via check or bank transfer (domestic wire, Zelle, etc.), however credit and debit card transactions are accepted with a 3.5% processing fee (4.5% for those residing outside of the United States).
Here’s a rundown of what is included in the trip costs:
- Accommodation in wheelchair accessible 4-star hotels (5 nights in Athens, 5 nights in Katerini)
- Transportation in a wheelchair accessible vehicle with four-point securement straps and a seatbelt
- Including transfers between Athens Airport and the hotel on arrival and departure
- Tours according to our trip itinerary
- Admission to museums, monuments and attractions listed in the program
- 20 meals (10 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 9 dinners)
- All breakfasts are provided at the hotel, buffet style with a wide selection.

How to reserve your spot in our group
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure your spot in the group, with the remaining balance due by January 30, 2027 (90 days prior to the tour’s start date).
