Wheelchair accessible transportation in Vilnius, Lithuania consists of a robust city bus network and a network of intercity trains. Vilnius is an incredibly walkable city and so, during my trip there, I didn’t need to rely on public transport all that often. Still, the systems do offer accessibility to wheelchair users, and this guide will detail how to explore Lithuania using public transport services.
Wheelchair Accessible City Buses in Vilnius
More than 80 individual routes exist on the Vilnius city bus and trolleybus network, most of which are wheelchair accessible with a manually operated ramp.
Accessible city buses are labeled with a wheelchair icon on the front of the bus, with a manual wheelchair ramp located at the rear (or middle) door. Be sure to flag down the bus driver, as he/she will need to deploy the ramp. Each accessible bus has at least one dedicated wheelchair space, as well as a number of other accessibility features.

Through the Trafi App, travelers are able to purchase a variety of tickets and passes valid for use on city bus services in Vilnius.

Wheelchair Accessible Trains in Vilnius, Lithuania
Lithuanian Railways, LTG, is the national railway company of Lithuania. LTG operates passenger services to multiple destinations within Lithuania, as well as to Warsaw and Krakow, Poland.
Not all of LTG’s rail cars and stations are wheelchair-friendly. The inaccessible route that is perhaps the most surprising is the one between Vilnius Airport and the city’s main train station.
Information on which trains, stations and railway platforms are accessible is available from the LTG website. The online ticket search also displays whether wheelchair spaces are available on a particular departure.
The domestic intercity routes of most interest to tourists, between Vilnius and Kaunas, Vilnius and Klaipeda, and Vilnius and Siauliai are all wheelchair-friendly. The train between Vilnius and cities in Poland is also accessible, though it is a very long ride!
