Located south of central Paris near Orly Airport (ORY), the Hilton Garden Inn Paris Orly Airport hotel is a property that, following the recent extension of the wheelchair accessible Paris Metro’s Line 14 and the opening of Tram Line 7, offers a great deal to tourists visiting the City of Lights. Travelers can reach the center of Paris, with easy access to sights like the Place de la Concorde and Eiffel Tower, in about 45 minutes using the tram and metro.
The hotel features 105 beautifully appointed guest rooms and amenities that include a lobby bar and restaurant and guest laundry. The property’s exceptional guest room accessibility makes it one of the top wheelchair accessible hotels near Paris, and one that I will look forward to enjoying on future trips to the city — especially when room rates are high in the city center.
Room Rates & Reservations
The cost of a hotel room at the The Hilton Garden Inn varies considerably, with typical room rates ranging from approximately 100 EUR to more than 150 EUR per night over the next year. The hotel is popular among business travelers and tourists alike, and rates naturally increase during periods of high occupancy. During the Olympic Games, my nightly room rate was about $175 USD per night, however I was able to use Hilton rewards points to cover some of those nights. Travelers are encouraged to book early to take advantage of the lowest rates at this wheelchair accessible hotel.
Room reservations for wheelchair accessible hotel rooms can be made via the Hilton Garden Inn Paris Orly Hotel website.
Wheelchair Accessible Hotel Room at Hilton Garden Inn Paris Orly Airport
My “Queen Accessible Room” was a standard room type, but it felt anything but standard! Spacious and with lovely design touches, the fourth-floor guest room (number 410) featured a large floor-to-ceiling window that invited large amounts of natural light into the space.

The queen size bed was comfortable and provided for a relaxing sleep experience. It was accessible on all sides from my power wheelchair. The bed height was 26 inches measured from the floor to the top of the mattress, with 7.5 inches of clearance underneath.

Lighting controls, power outlets and USB ports were found directly alongside the bed and above the nightstand. The bedside power outlet allowed me to easily charge my wheelchair and other electronics. Note that electricity in France is delivered at 230 volts. Travelers from the U.S. and North America may need to use a step-down power transformer to charge wheelchairs that use the 120V standard. Please see the guide to charging a power wheelchair abroad for more information and tips. My wheelchair has a dual-voltage charger, so I plugged right into the wall (with a universal plug adapter) and charged without issue.
On the wall opposite the bed was a wall-mounted television, desk, and mini fridge. The desk was 31.5 inches high, with 29.25 inches of clearance below.
Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom with Roll-in Shower at Hilton Garden Inn Paris Orly Airport
The beautifully appointed bathroom is really where this hotel stood out, with all of the accessibility features that I needed to feel safe and secure.

The bathroom featured a roll under sink with an easy-to-operate faucet. The sink measured 33 inches high, with 28.5 inches of clearance below.
An adjacent toilet, measuring 19 inches from floor to seat, had a single folding grab bar that was 31 inches tall when in use. There was space to park my wheelchair directly alongside the toilet for a safe lateral transfer.

The roll-in shower was superb and it featured a seat that folded down from the wall. The seat was 19 inches tall and measured 16.5 inches wide, with a depth of 15.5 inches. A handheld shower head and water controls were within reach of the wall-mounted seat, and grab bars were placed on the adjacent walls at a height of 32 inches. The water pressure was strong, which made for enjoyable showers.
Location & Transportation
The Hilton Garden Inn Paris Orly Airport hotel is located about 5 minutes’ walk or roll from the Saarinen Tram Station, which is serviced by Tram Line 7 (T7). The tram line is wheelchair accessible with level entry boarding and designated wheelchair spaces. T7 connects to Paris Orly Airport, and also to the wheelchair accessible metro Line 14. Transfers from the tram and metro occur at the Chevilly-Larue Tram and Metro Station, which is 4 tram stops from the hotel.

There is not much within walking distance of the Hilton Garden Inn, however there are local shops and restaurants within walking distance of nearby tram stops. The tram and metro are easy to use, and proved to be invaluable to me during my trip to the Paris Olympics.
Final Thoughts
The Hilton Garden Inn Paris Orly Airport boasts a high level of guest room accessibility and a location that is convenient enough to wheelchair accessible public transportation. The competitive price point makes this hotel extremely attractive, particularly when room rates in central Paris are elevated during the high seasons for tourism. The familiar Hilton brand added a touch of extra comfort, and I cannot recommend this property enough!
