MARTA Subway System
The MARTA is a fully accessible subway system with four lines and 38 total stations within the city of Atlanta. With an annual ridership of more than 80 million, the system adequately serves the city’s people and visitors alike.
Trains are easily accessible from station platforms; both powered and manual wheelchair users are able to easily roll on and off the trains. Elevators are available at all stations in the network. Each train car has a designated area for wheelchair users.
The MARTA system’s Gold and Red lines offer service to/from Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).
Travel on the MARTA subway requires a reloadable Breeze card. These cards can be purchased and reloaded at all stations. Payment for a new card or to reload an existing one can be made with cash or credit/debit card. The Breeze card can be purchased at fare vending machines for $1.00. One-way fares on the MARTA subway are $2.50. Unlimited ride passes are available: 1 day for $9.00, 2 days for $14.00, 3 days for $16.00, 4 days for $19.00 or 7 days for $23.75.
Seniors aged 65 or older and persons with disabilities are eligible for a reduced fare of $1.00. For information on how to apply for a reduced fare card, visit www.itsmarta.com. Transfers are permitted between subway lines without additional cost. All four MARTA lines — Blue, Green, Gold and Red — intersect at the Five Points station downtown.

The Atlanta bus system operates throughout the city and features 91 separate routes. All buses are equipped with lowered floors and ramps or wheelchair lifts. These adapted features make all city buses accessible to wheelchair users. Wheelchair spaces and tie-downs/securement straps are available on each bus.
