Colombia allows citizens of nearly 100 countries to enter without a visa for stays of up to 90 days. For a list of those countries, click here. Citizens of the United States are included in the visa exemption policy and may enter Colombia for tourism or business purposes.
Entry into Colombia using the visa exemption for United States citizens requires the following:
- A passport that is valid on the date of entry.
- One blank passport visa page.
- A Yellow Fever vaccine is required for travelers coming from Brazil, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Uganda. The vaccine must have been administered at least 10 days before arrival in Colombia.
Upon arrival in Bogota, the airline’s assistance team assisted me through immigration and to baggage claim, where I collected my wheelchair. Once you have collected your bags, you’ll line up to see another border agent, who will ask about your recent travels and check your Yellow Fever vaccine if required. As a wheelchair user, I was permitted to skip to the front of the line.

The nearest TransMilenio city bus station is Quinta Paredes, located within 350 meters or about four to five blocks from the Embassy. It is also close to the Grand Hyatt Bogota, one of the hotels I have stayed at in the city. The station, like many others, is located in the median of a major roadway, but it is accessible via a pedestrian bridge with access ramp.
