Riga International Airport (RIX) is a key hub for air transportation in the Baltic region and home of Latvian flag carrier airBaltic. The airport is conveniently located approximately 6 miles west of the city center. Prior to the pandemic, RIX served nearly 8 million annual travelers.

If you are traveling with a personal wheelchair, it is possible to gate-check the device, whether it is manual or powered. Passengers arriving to the airport who have a wheelchair stored in cargo should be reconnected with their mobility equipment inside the AmbuLift.
The airport has a single terminal, with two piers (B and C) featuring jet bridges. Some aircraft are parked at remote stands, with transportation and boarding for wheelchair users provided via an AmbuLift. The terminal has undergone multiple renovations and expansions and has the features one would expect of a modern airport.
The airport is connected to downtown Riga via the city bus (route 22), which stops outside of the airport’s arrivals hall — it is a short walk to the pick-up point. The city bus provides wheelchair accessible transportation to downtown Riga in about 30 minutes.
