Traveling with or renting a patient lift is a necessity for many people with disabilities, but renting a Hoyer lift on the road isn’t cheap and bringing your own isn’t easy. Accessible travel should be simpler, and one hotel chain is doing their part to help make getting in and out of bed easier.

Scandic Hotels is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, but has properties across Scandinavia and in a few other European countries. The company has long been regarded as the most accessible hotelier in Europe, with numerous accommodations for guests with disabilities.

One such accommodation are the mobile lifts available in 41 of the chain’s hotels — available free-of-charge to guests who may need them. The list is provided below. I have previously reviewed one of the properties in detail here on the blog, the Scandic Berlin Potsdamer Platz, which I consider to be one of the city’s most disability-friendly hotels.

Scandic Hotels with Mobile Lifts for Guests with Disabilities

Hotels with patient lifts for guests with disabilities are rare, so it’s nice to see one brand making them available at 41 of their properties. I hope this is just the beginning! For more information on reserving a patient transfer hoist at one of these properties, visit the Scandic Hotels website.
