For travelers with disabilities visiting the Gateway City, there is a variety of wheelchair accessible hotel rooms in St. Louis across multiple price points.
As a frequent visitor to St. Louis, I have personally stayed in many of the city’s hotels — including budget properties like the Days Inn and luxury accommodations like the Ritz-Carlton. Some hotels are more accessible than others. I have included information and pictures of the hotels I have stayed at (both good and bad) in this guide to St. Louis hotel accessibility. I encourage you to share details of other hotels where you have stayed in the comments below. Please note that this is not a complete list of accessible hotels in the city, only those which I have stayed in and verified.
Courtyard St. Louis Downtown/Convention Center
Located next to the Convention Center and along Washington Avenue, the Courtyard St. Louis Downtown is a great place to stay whether your trip to St. Louis is for business or pleasure.
Like many of the hotels in St. Louis, the roll-in shower lacks the wall-mounted shower seat that is required by the ADA, but it is an otherwise lovely hotel.

Days Inn by Wyndham Downtown St. Louis
The Days Inn Downtown St. Louis isn’t really “downtown” per se, but it is adjacent and affordable. Unfortunately, the accessible room, while comfortable, is not ADA compliant.
The accessible bathtub had grab bars (only one on the back wall instead of the two that are required), but there was no handheld showerhead and the portable shower chair provided had fixed armrests that made transferring from my wheelchair impossible. If the bathtub was ADA compliant, this would be a great choice for affordable accommodation in St. Louis, but I cannot recommend it for non-ambulatory travelers.
Hotel Lumiere
Hotel Lumiere is an all-suite hotel that is connected to the Lumiere Place Casino. Located at Laclede’s Landing, it is within walking distance of the St. Louis Arch. The hotel has been renovated and features a number of accessible suites.
The room accessibility was good, with plenty of space to move about in my power wheelchair and a roll-in shower with a built-in seat. Here are some measurements of the room:
- Bed height to top of mattress — 29 inches.
- Clear space under bed — 7 inches
- Sink height; free space under sink — 34 inches; 29 inches
- Toilet seat height — 17.5 inches
- Toilet grab bar height — 34.5 inches
- Shower seat height — 18 inches
- Shower grab bar height — 35.5 inches

Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch
The Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch is a fantastic downtown hotel located directly alongside Gateway Arch National Park and the city’s iconic landmark. If you’re traveling to St. Louis for the first time, this is definitely the place to stay!
Guest room accessibility is quite good, with the roll-in showers having a wall-mounted shower seat. Due to the hotel’s age, there is not enough space to park a wheelchair alongside the toilet, but there are grab bars to assist in the transfer.

The Last Hotel, St. Louis
Located on Washington Avenue in the heart of the St. Louis Garment District, The Last Hotel was built inside of a historic shoe factory. Thoughtfully designed, the hotel maintains touches of the building’s history, while boasting a spacious, modern and (for the most part) accessible interior.
The Last Hotel offers four different mobility accessible room types: the deluxe queen or executive king with a roll-in shower, and the junior suite or executive king with a transfer shower. I stayed in the executive king with transfer shower, which was nice, but there was no wall-mounted shower seat and I had to request a portable plastic one.

Marriott St. Louis Grand
The Marriott Grand St. Louis Hotel, located on Washington Avenue, is a beautiful property in a historic building downtown. It’s located just four blocks from my old apartment building, and I love the hotel’s ambiance.
The interior is modern and refreshing, and it makes for a comfortable place to stay whether you’re visiting St. Louis for a relaxing weekend or for a night on the town. Accessibility is great, but the hotel has only portable chairs for the roll-in showers and bathtubs. This detracts from the experience and keeps me from giving this hotel a 5-star rating.

Renaissance St. Louis Airport
The Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel appeared in the George Clooney film, Up in the Air. I’ve stayed at this hotel many times, both before and after my car accident. It’s a nice, affordable hotel that is close to the airport. Unfortunately, its airport shuttle bus is not wheelchair accessible (though it was in the past).
The bathrooms in the accessible guest rooms are not ADA compliant, as only portable shower chairs are provided. Despite having raised the issue multiple times, it was not addressed in a recent renovation of the property. That said, if you can overlook the accessibility issues in the bathroom, it is a nice place to stay — and the toasted ravioli in the lobby bar is delicious!

Residence Inn St. Louis Downtown
I stayed at this hotel during one of my first trips to St. Louis as a wheelchair user and had a lovely stay, but forgot to photograph the room! For more information or to make a reservation at this property, visit the Residence Inn St. Louis hotel website.
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis is one of the city’s two true luxury hotels (the other being the Four Seasons) and it really is a beautiful property. The accessibility of guest room bathrooms leaves much to be desired, however, as the shower seat is mounted on a side wall, out of reach of the shower controls and handheld showerhead. Plastic shower chairs are available, but it’s not what one would expect in a hotel this expensive.
Here are some measurements of the room and its accessibility features:
- Bed height to top of mattress — 28 inches.
- Clear space under bed — None
- Sink height; free space under sink — 34 inches; 29.5 inches
- Toilet seat height — 18.5 inches
- Toilet grab bar height — 37 inches
- Shower seat height — The seat is mounted at an angle and slopes toward the wall… Its height is 19 inches at the front edge and 17 inches at the wall.
- Shower grab bar height — 37 inches

The Westin St. Louis
The Westin St. Louis is a relatively new hotel located right across the street from Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals. If you are planning to attend a Cardinals baseball game, there is no hotel closer to the action!
When I stayed at this hotel in April 2021, I reserved a room with a roll-in shower, but was given a transfer shower instead. I actually prefer transfer showers, but didn’t realize until I went to get in the shower that there were no grab bars! I’m not sure how this important accessibility feature could be overlooked, and it’s a sad mark on an otherwise fantastic accessible hotel room.
Here are some measurements of the room and its accessibility features:
- Bed height to top of mattress — 31 inches.
- Clear space under bed — Platform bed with no clear space underneath.
- Sink height; free space under sink — 34 inches; 28 inches
- Toilet seat height — 17.5 inches
- Toilet grab bar height — 36 inches
- Shower seat height — 18 inches from the shower floor, which is elevated one inch higher than the bathroom floor.
- Shower grab bar height — There were no grab bars.
