Vilnius International Airport (VNO) serves more than 5 million passengers annually, making it the largest airport in Lithuania. The airport is conveniently located less than 4 miles from the city center, with a frequent schedule of city bus services connecting the two.

The airport consists of a single terminal building, however a new terminal building is currently under construction and will open in 2025.

Disability Assistance Services at Vilnius Airport

Disability assistance services should be requested prior to travel and through your airline. Consult this list of wheelchair assistance contacts at major airlines. If you are traveling with a personal wheelchair, it is possible to gate-check the device, whether it is manual or powered.

I arrived to Vilnius on an airBaltic aircraft that parked at a remote gate stand. Because there was no jet bridge, I was deplaned using a high loader and taken in that AmbuLift to the terminal building. On departure, I flew with Finnair and, even though the plane was connected to a jet bridge, I was taken to an AmbuLift so that me and my wheelchair could be taken directly to the aircraft for boarding and loading.

Due to the airport’s heavy use of AmbuLifts to assist disabled passengers, there should be no problem if having a personal wheelchair returned to the aircraft door — either inside the jet bridge or onboard the A,buLift.Passengers arriving to the airport who have a wheelchair stored in cargo should be reconnected with their mobility equipment either in the terminal or inside the AmbuLift.

Although the present airport terminal is nearly 75 years old, accessible bathroom facilities do exist and are suited for use by both disabled travelers and their caregivers. The adapted bathrooms feature a toilet with grab bars, roll under sink and more.
