One of the most convenient and accessible ways to get around a city and to the top tourist attractions is on a hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus. The cost of a ticket is much more affordable than taxi cab fares, and the wheelchair accessible buses stop at nearly everything you want to see. Riders also get a free audio tour, which offers interesting insights into a city’s history, culture and attractions.
Due to the coronavirus, most hop-on hop-off tour buses shut down, but Big Bus Tours has restarted services in 9 cities around the world. If you are comfortable traveling right now, these destinations are worth considering.
- Berlin, Germany (Big Bus Berlin) (Travel Guide) — Hop-on hop-off daytime tours are operating daily.

Please note that, in the United States, there are some Big Bus motor coaches without a wheelchair ramp or lift. It is recommended that wheelchair users contact the local office after purchasing a ticket to notify the company of an accessibility need. If the system in the city you are visiting is not fully accessible, please note that the Big Bus company is required to accommodate wheelchair users in an alternative form of transport at the company’s cost.
