Happy New Year (belated, I know) and welcome to version 2020 of the world’s largest accessible travel website!
It has been a few years since WheelchairTravel.org received a design update. Today, I am pleased to introduce the beta version of our new look.
My goal in redesigning the website was to reduce clutter and improve readability, especially on mobile devices. For smartphone users, the website’s loading speed has been dramatically improved, and I plan to implement Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) framework in the near future. Weeks of labor went into design and implementation, and I hope readers will be satisfied with the changes.
Although things do look a bit different around here, the core structure of the website hasn’t changed. Here’s a mini site-map to help you visualize how the content is arranged:
- Homepage
- Destinations
- Africa & Middle East — 4 destinations
- Asia — 7 destinations
- Europe — 12 destinations
- South America — 3 destinations
- United States & Canada — 21 destinations
- Information / Frequently Asked Questions
- Air Travel — 13 topical articles
- Hotels — 5 topical articles
- International Travel — 12 topical articles
- Train Travel
- Resources
- Blog
- Contains more than 15 categories including Air Travel, Attractions, Hotels, Transportation and more — together containing hundreds of posts about accessible travel.
- About Me
All of the content you rely on is in the same spot, but pages have been modified and updated to fit the new design.
As you make use of the website, please keep an eye out for any issues (broken links, missing images, etc.). If you spot a problem, however small, please let me know by sending an e-mail to mailbag@wheelchairtravel.org or commenting on this article.
Thank you for your continued readership!
